Teen Summer Reading Challenge - pick up a reading log @ the Library and for every 5 hours you read you can enter to win one of the grand prizes that will be offered at the July 27th YA Awards Party.
Poetry Slam - Monday, June 22nd @ 7:00 pm. Open to teens ages 13-19. Rules can be picked up @ the Library.
Photography Contest - deadline for entries is Friday, July 17th. Rules can be picked up @ the Library.
Altered Book Making Workshop - Monday, July 6th and July 14th @ 7:00 pm. All materials needed, examples and instructions will be provided to make an altered book art project.
Teen Friday Movie Nights - June 12th THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON rated PG13; June 19th THE BREAKFAST CLUB rated R; June 26th BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE rated PG13.
All movies begin @ 7:00 pm and will be projected on a big screen in the Library. Admission is free and you must be 13 or older to attend the Friday night movies. Popcorn and drink will be provided. Once teens have entered the library for the movie they will not be able to leave until the movie is over.

June 1st-Summer reading logs will be available for pick up at the library circulation desk.
June 10th-Ever wonder which scorpions are deadly and which don't sting at all? Ever imagine what the world's longest millipede eats for breakfast? Ever wanted to confront your entomophobia by letting a tarantula crawl on your chest? Jungle Jim and his "Bugs of the World" presentation will answer all those questions and more.
June 11th-Bonzo Crunch brings Reading with Ringling Bros. back for the second year. He will have a reading challenge available for the kids. The prize is a free ticket to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
Thursday Movie Night presents Bolt (96 minutes, PG). Snacks will be provided. All are welcome to bring a pillow and blanket. Movie to be shown in the library.

June 17th-Texas Farm Day. Local farmers will be providing produce grown in this area. We will have crafts and games associated with agriculture.
June 18th-Thursday Movie Night presents IGOR (87 minutes, PG). Snacks will be provided. All are welcome to bring a pillow and blanket. Movie to be shown in the library.
June 19th-Teen Movie Night presents The Breakfast Club (R).
June 24th-The Institute of Texan Cultures presentation of Dinosaurs of Texas. We will have crafts and games associated with dinosaurs.
June 25th-Thursday Movie Night presents Beverly Hills Chihuahua (91 minutes, PG). Snacks will be provided. All are welcome to bring a pillow and blanket. Movie to be shown in the library.
June 26th-Teen Movie Night presents Bringing Down the House (PG-13).

July 1st-Texas Ranch Day. We will have demonstrations of life on a Texas ranch. We will have crafts and games associated with ranch life.
July 2nd-Thursday Movie Night presents Happy Feet (109 minutes, PG). Snacks will be provided. All are welcome to bring a pillow and blanket. Movie to be shown in the library.
July 8th-Texas Wildlife Day. The local game warden will be on hand to teach the kids guns safety, and about wildlife in the area. We will have crafts and games associated with Texas wildlife.
July 9th-Thursday Movie Night presents Bedtime Stories (99 minutes, PG). Snacks will be provided. All are welcome to bring a pillow and blanket. Movie to be shown in the library.
July 15th-Conservation Day. Doc Edwards will be on hand to teach the kids about the aquifer and water conservation. Niki Lake from Government Canyon State Natural Area will teach the kids about nature conservation.
July 16th-Thursday Movie Night presents Madagascar (86 minutes, PG). Snacks will be provided. All are welcome to bring a pillow and blanket. Movie to be shown in the library.
July 17th-Teen Movie Night presents Ferris Bueller's Day Off (PG-13).
July 22nd-Texas Night Creatures. A representative from the Eckert James River Bat Cave Preserve will be on hand to teach the kids about the importance of bat preservation and benefits to our ecological system. We will have crafts associated with bats.
July 23rd-Thursday Movie Night presents Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (89 minutes, PG). Snacks will be provided. All are welcome to bring a pillow and blanket. Movie to be shown in the library.
July 24th-Summer Reading Log deadline. All logs must be completed and turned in at the circulation desk at the library to be eligible for prize drawings.
July 29th-Summer Reading Awards and Party. We will present certificates to each child who participated in the reading challenge. Awards for the most logs turned in will be give in each category, followed by prize drawings. We will also have an ice cream party with custom toppings.
